We are seeking a Solicitor who is enthusiastic and self-motivated with broad-based corporate and commercial experience, including formation and disposal of businesses, asset and share transactions, corporate organization, restructuring and reorganizations, as well as residential and commercial real estate. Thompson, LeRose & Brown is a general practice firm with opportunities to learn other practice areas across two offices in the West Kootenay region of BC.

Requirements & responsibilities

  • ·Law degree and member in good standing with the Law Society of BC
  • ·Minimum 2 to 4 years as a practicing lawyer with in-depth knowledge of corporate and commercial law, ideally with a focus on real estate
  • ·Experienced in contract drafting and negotiations
  • ·Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills
  • ·Superior judgment and business acumen
  • ·Excellent communication skills

Legal Assistant — Conveyancing and Estates

Full Time · Castlegar

We are seeking a conveyancing and estate legal assistant or paralegal. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and professional, thriving on work that is both interesting and complex within a Solicitor's practice. Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package.

Requirements & responsibilities

  • ·Legal Assistant or Paralegal Diploma or Certificate, or two years experience
  • ·Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Outlook, LEAP, Lawyer-Done-Deal, BC Online, LTSA, and municipal tax searches
  • ·Administers files from start to finish, including purchases and sales of residential and commercial properties
  • ·Land Title and Authority registrations, title and off-title due diligence searches
  • ·Trust transactions, discharge of mortgages, probate and administration application materials
  • ·Liaison with probate registry and government agencies

Legal Assistant — Administrative and Bookkeeping

We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide comprehensive support across various accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, and Trust accounting. Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package.

Requirements & responsibilities

  • ·Legal Assistant or Paralegal Diploma or Certificate, or two years experience
  • ·Minimum 3 years accounting experience
  • ·Proficient with MS Office 365, PCLaw and/or LEAP and QuickBooks
  • ·Post and reconcile general account and credit card transactions; process Trust cheques
  • ·Daily bank deposits, trust transfers, payroll including T4 slips and ROEs
  • ·Bank reconciliations, month-end financial statements, year-end closing
  • ·Ensure adherence to Law Society rules and regulations
